Park district to meet Tuesday ZANESVILLE - The Muskingum Valley Park District will meet in regular session at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, at the district office, 1720 Euclid Ave. Eyes of Freedom in Perry County NEW LEXINGTON - The Eyes of Freedom traveling veterans memorial will be moving down Broadway to New Lexington High School on noon Saturday. The memorial will be on display at the high school from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and 4 to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. An opening ceremony will be at 6 p.m. Saturday and a closing ceremony will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. The memorial consists of 8-foot portraits of Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, 24th Marines Infantry reserve unit and one Navy corpsman painted by Columbus artist Anita Miller. All members of the unit were lost in Iraq from April to August 2005. Church having Human Rights Day ZANESVILLE - Church Women United will hold a Human Rights Day at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at Rolling Plains United Methodist Church. The featured speaker will be from Mideast Ohio Rescue and Restore Coalition. Lunch will be provided. Ohio 666 closing for work Dresden - The Ohio Department of Transportation has announced that Ohio 666 will be closed south of Dresden from Nov. 13 to 16 for a slide repair from Old Ferry Road to Golden Road. The suggested detour is Ohio 208 to Ohio 60.
Longtime Area Banker Dies

John Kozak passed away this week. Kozak started his career in 1977 as a Certified Public Accountant in Columbus, Ohio. In 1980 he joined Mutual Federal Savings & Loan in Zanesville as Chief Financial Officer. In 1991 Kozak started working for Park National Bank in Newark, Ohio. He was a Zanesville Rosecrans High School Graduate, where he was the school’s all time leading scorer in basketball and later elected to the first Hall of Fame Class in 2008. Kozak also has a legacy of volunteerism and community commitment. The Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Visitation is set for Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm A memorial mass is set for Wednesday at St Nicholas Catholic Church in Zanesville.
